Scuppernong is a private cloud drive. It's end-to-end encrypted so that even Bunk can't read your data. This user guide has some tips and tricks for using Scuppernong effectively.
What is CryptPad?
CryptPad is the open-source software that powers Scuppernong. Cryptpad has it's own user guide that you can also reference for help using Scuppernong.
Don't lose your password!
Due to the end-to-end encrypted nature of Scuppernong, Bunk cannot restore access to your account if you lose your username or password. So don't lose them!
Help Desk
Scuppernong has an internal Help Desk for users to submit support requests. We will make a best effort to respond to your ticket quickly.
Collaborating with other users
Scuppernong is designed for multi-user collaboration while preserving all the encryption and privacy users expect. This collaboration is easiest if you add other users as "contacts" so that you can select their name from a dropdown menu when sharing documents with them.
To connect with another Scuppernong user:
- Log in to Scuppernong
- Select the User Menu avatar at the top-right > Profile
- Click Share
- Share the link with your desired collaborator through another channel (email, text message, etc.) and ask them to navigate to that page and Send a contact request
- Once they've sent the request, approve it inside Scuppernong and start collaborating
Scuppernong also allows the creation of Teams, a group of users that share a whole drive for easy collaboration. You can read more about creating and managing Teams in the CryptPad User Guide
Storage space
Scuppernong currently offers each user a limited storage space of 300MB. We hope to increase this in the future, but for now it is what it is. If you find yourself running out of space in your drive, and you haven't used up space with large files like images or (poorly formatted) PDFs, then the thing that's probably using most of your space is the edit history of some documents.
To free up space used by document edit history:
- Right-click a document and select Properties
- Select the Delete History option at the bottom of the window
If you don't see the Delete History option, then you don't have permission to delete the history for that document. Deleting a document's edit history can free up lots of space, but will also permanently erase its history of edits. Only delete the edit history if you don't need it.
