TL;DR we're not confident in Twilio's ability to continue to exist, so we're AWS-maxing in an effort to keep our channels alive in the long term. Either way, the praxis isn't great, so we don't really lose anything in the process of switching.

Independently, we've decided to do it in Rust, because we're cool like that.
